  1. So, I was thinking, and the issue of "citogenesis" has a pretty easy solution. Simply check for chronological publishing! If the edit was made on Wikipedia prior to the reference article's date of publication, then the article cannot be used as a citation. It's not a perfect answer, but it certainly eliminates the described scenario.
